Abstract This study was aimed to extract the fixed oil of Apium graveolens through the process of maceration with normal hexane. The oil was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The antimicrobial activity was also estimated. The GC-MS analysis of the studied oil showed the presence of 45 constituents. Major components are: i) 9-Octadecenoic acid methyl ester (56.04%) ii) 9, 12-Octadecadienoic acid methyl ester (13.47%) iii) Hexadecanoic acid methyl ester(12.05%) iv) Methyl stearate(4.69%) The oil showed partial antimicrobial activity against some test organism.
